CHICAGO POLICE OFFICER SLAMMED ON MOVING CAR HOOD SHOOTS OFFENDER

At about 10:00 a.m. Chicago Police from the 18th District Tactical Unit arrived in Oak Park with Oak Park Police to execute a search warrant in Oak Park at 1008 West Washington Blvd. (South-West corner of washington Blvd.
and Home Ave.)

When the 29 year old offender walked in on the police he turned, fleeing on foot running north down the alley to the middle of the block, where he jumped into his car on Home Avenue and started to drive away. As a squad unit neared to the rear of the offenders vehicle, the offender threw his car in reverse crashing into the squad. Another Officer following on foot was also struck by the offender's car. This caused the officer to be slammed onto the hood of the car. The Officer was still clinging to the hood, asking the offender to stop! Fearing for his life, the officer shot.

Both the Offender and the officer where transported to the hospital. Were glad to report the officer appears to be doing well, no further word on the offender.
