CHARGED MAN-TRYING TO KILL A CHICAGO POLICE OFFICER

A man was charged late Friday with attempted first-degree murder after a Chicago police officer was shot and wounded, authorities said.

Devaris Perry, 20, of the 600 block of South Hoyne Avenue also was charged with aggravated battery with a firearm.

Police allege that Perry shot a 55-year-old officer in the arm during a struggle for the officer's gun at the Ida B. Wells public housing development in the 500 block of East Browning Avenue on Friday morning, police said. The same housing development where noisy residents scream, your hassling us with contact cards.

The officer then shot Perry in the thigh, police said.
