Pro-immigrant resolution fails

The Cook County Board rejected Tuesday an attempt to make the county an immigrant-friendly government by forbidding its employees from investigating or asking about anyone’s immigration status.
Cook County Commissioner Roberto Maldonado, who has championed the resolution for more than a year, looked visibly upset after the resolution failed on a tie vote with three abstentions.
“I’m not going to give up,” Maldonado (D-Chicago) said. “I’m going to bring it back. ... When we fought for civil rights legislation, it did not happen overnight.”
The bill, similar to one that passed Chicago City Council last year, would have forbidden county sheriff’s police and other officials from inquiring about anyone’s immigration status unless it was connected to an investigation into other criminal wrongdoing. County services could not be withheld based on immigration status.

Democrat Roberto Maldanado speaks of civil rights for illegals, get real buddy! Those rights go to American citizens and legal immigrants who waited in line regardless of time limits to embrace their new American citizenship. On the other hand, Maldonado wants to play the civil rights card modeled after Martin Luther King marches. There is no comparison between the rights fought for by African American citizens and illegal aliens. Maldonado your beginning to be very offensive as a governmental entity. By the way also get off the tired line of were all immigrants. Has anyone informed you as a supposed educated individual and a so called governmental employee within the United States of America, there is no such thing as everyone. You and others do not speak for the multitudes of Americans first, WHO are fed up with all the illegal demands and give aways on citizens backs. On a second note let them take the kiddies with, after all that's what a caring and loving parent would do. With all the money sent back to Mexico by the illegals to the richest Latin Americana country known as Mexico, they should be able to continue to provide for their families and live very well.
