CHICAGO POLICE 3 INJURED TODAY NON-SERIOUS

Were just glad their all o.k and doing as well as expected for their injuries.

Two Officers were patrolling when their unmarked squad car was rear ended by a truck. The crash occurred around 11:50 a.m. in the 700 block of South Clinton Street. Southbound traffic was cordoned off on Clinton for a little more than a block, between Harrison and Lexington. Both officers were taken to Northwestern for observation. No word on citations for the driver who caused the accident.

The third officer about a half hour later was attempting to arrest an individual Around 12:20 p.m., the officer approached a group of people standing in a hallway at the Chicago Housing Authority's Harold Ickes Homes, 2350 S. State St.

The officer was trying to arrest someone from that group, but that individual resisted, police said."During the scuffle, he (the officer) slipped and hit his head," said Chicago Police Officer Marcel Bright. The person the officer was trying to arrest then fled the scene immediately, police said. Authorities said the officer was in good condition at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he is being treated for a head injury. We know who were looking for so we will catch up with sooner than later. Sure sounds like the offenders actions of resisting and scuffling with the officer was the reason the officer slipped which ended up in a fall causing a head injury. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/custom/newsroom/chi-070123squad,0,539423.story?coll=chi-news-hed
