CHICAGO AREA 4 DETECTIVES INVESTIGATING DOUBLE DEATH

Chicago police officers found a man and a woman fatally stabbed in a basement apartment Tuesday night after responding to a 911 call of a robbery in progress.Police were called to an apartment building in the 1000 block of North Springfield Avenue around 8:45 p.m. and found the two victims, said Chicago Police Officer Amina Greer. A law enforcement source said a suspect was being questioned this morning at a hospital.
The male victim, identified this morning as Jesse Brown, 65, was dead on the scene. The woman, whose identity was not known this morning, was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital where she died at 10:15 p.m., a Cook County medical examiner's office spokesman said. She was described by authorities as in her 40s.
