CHICAGO POLICE DEPARTMENT FAILURE IN PROVIDING FTC NUMBER FOR IDENTITY THEFT VICTIMS IS THERE A FAILURE?

The above number is the FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION IDENTITY THEFT CLEARING HOUSE (FTC.) IF YOU ARE A VICTIM OF IDENTITY THEFT YOU SHOULD BE CONTACTING THIS NUMBER TO BE PLACED IN THEIR DATA BANK.

A question of concern was posed to us by an anonymous source.
Why are Police instructed to provide numbers to the Three major Credit Bureaus plus Social Security for the numerous Identity Theft victims but the above important number is being overlooked and not provided? We talked with a few others in the know and they concurred and felt it is a genuine problem.

We did some research and discovered this number reaches back as far as 1998? With that being said, then this number should be the primary call for all Identity Theft victims. Upon calling the number the intake operators at (FTC) enter your information into a Data Bank and will also provide you with the same numbers that CPD is giving out that being the Credit Bureaus and Social Security numbers.

So why is CPD involved in duplicating information which would be provided by FTC but appearing to fail in providing the most important primary number? Why would they have victims making these calls and if the victim is lucky enough to get the FTC number the information which was given out by CPD is then duplicated by FTC? When all they need to do is provide the FTC primary number?

This could be due to a few factors. The one area we considered is in the area of poor management and lack of ongoing training along with poorly up dated materials with this information not being made readily available to Officers to then provide to the victims. If this is occurring widespread then the State of Illinois statistics for Identity Theft could be grossly inaccurate and that's very important! If its not occurring its easy enough for the City to disapprove because the (FTC ) number would show up in print along with the other numbers as a notification number having been provided to all victims and it would show up on (all past and present reports) for Identity Theft victims which CPD generated.

The reason this number is so important is that it provides the reported statistics for not only Illinois but all other states as well. Accurate reporting of any statistic is needed. Especially when it relates to crime statistics. We have no idea how other Police municipalities in Illinois are handling the FTC number issue. So the question has to arise as to how accurate are the statistics for the State of Illinois numbers for such an important crime as Identity Theft? Now see if you can determine how Identity Theft crime impacts your State by clicking on the bottom link of the (International Associations of Chiefs of Police.) We had no luck in being able to pull up a record but maybe its just our browser which brought us back to the above fuzzy research with Illinois stats. This is the same Association that claims to support victims of identity theft and then presented a supporting letter to Cook County to keep Law Enforcement Officers and employees out and from being involved in any questioning of the legal status of any individual for violations of Federal Immigration laws. Thereby supporting Cook County's recent move and decision by Stroger Jr. to also push and make all of Cook another Sanctuary Safe Haven for illegals just like Daley did in Chicago. This Resolution was presented to the Cook County board on December 19th 2006 which we previously reported on in a recent post.

Our Rant is we feel along with the continual up rise in identity theft and the dire budget conditions of Chicago, Cook County and the State of Illinois with pending layoffs, lack of Police hiring reduced services, grossly underfunded Pensions, increased taxes and the magnitude of economic problems facing Citizens. The recent moves by Daley, Stroger and Blagojevich towards Sanctuary Safe Havens with benefits and perks for all illegals is plain wrong and out right irresponsible. Instead of these Politicians abiding by Federal Law and also balancing the budgets, their move is the exact opposite in direction.

Illegals now will freely gain benefits at the citizens additional expense along with jobs which citizens are losing and no questions asked! Their plan on protecting the Citizens is by surrendering the entire State of Illinois to any and all illegals. Apparently they must feel their Home Rule does apparently over rule Federal mandated Laws of this Country set on behalf of its own Citizens? While these agencies continue to bask in Federal Grant Money just for the taking.
What is the purpose of Federal Laws to protect this Country and its Citizens when Politicians flip their finger to their nose and lay claim to Home Rule, RULES and Federal Law means nothing and employees and Citizens will obey our orders of thinly failed Resolutions.
