It's possible the Bears will deactivate nose tackle Tank Johnson for the remainder of the season because of his latest display of questionable decision-making, so the team must prepare for life with a severely depleted defensive line.
Johnson's presence at the Ice Bar nightclub in the early-morning hours Saturday was a bad call on his part, even before his live-in bodyguard Willie "Po" Posey was gunned down inside the club and died shortly after.Bears coach Lovie Smith had already decided Friday to deactivate Johnson for today's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after he was arrested on six misdemeanor weapons charges Thursday.
In response to the latest indiscretion by Johnson, who has been arrested three times in the last 18 months, the Bears had almost nothing to say Saturday.
A statement from Halas Hall read: "We are aware of the shooting that occurred in a downtown club last night. We are currently gathering information to learn more about the situation."
